Cozy and simple 3D-platformer with difficult controls!
Help the Dice King in his (not-so) long journey
from Dicey Castle to Snowy Mountains!

This game is made in 48 hours for GMTK GameJam 2022
with a theme "Roll of the Dice".

CONTROLS

  • Use 1 2 3 4 5 6 on your Keyboard or Num Pad to Roll the Dice King in the corresponding direction.
  • Use the number on top of the Dice King to Jump. To overcome pits and traps, try to Roll while in the air.
  • You cannot see behind the Dice King. Try to calculate what number is on the other side. Remember, opposite sides are always sum up to 7!

FEATURES

  • Every roll changes your controls! Try to think ahead and memorize the patterns, and the game will reward you.
  • Each respawn the Dice King lands on a random side.
  • The game is made with speedrun opportunities in mind. We would glad to see you speedrunning our game!
  • Roll through 4 levels, each with a unique theme and challenges.
  • Try to collect all 111 coins across levels (it's optional though).

KNOWN ISSUES

  • In browser Timer somehow goes faster. Time is a weird soup!
  • SFX settings in Gameplay Pause window are not working.

One of the more creative ideas I've come across! Very impressed you made this in so little time.

Only point of criticism is that sometimes it is hard to see the numbers projected on to the ground (they are obscured). If they could be more visible it would save me doing a little bit of math perhaps haha

Cool:

  • Good spin on a theme!
  • Solid level design and education curve.
  • Clever exploration of the base mecahnic.
  • Polished design: checkpoints, coins, completition timers.
  • Pretty looking levels.
  • Speedrun potential for ignoring the gravity. Like the mechanics.

Possibilities:

  • It takes some time to understand the controls. I started with mouse clicking on screen buttons and everywhere etc. (I was ancored after using mouse in the main menu)
  • Rolling upward or in the tonnel without hints is a tricky experience. All the walkthrough I was thinking about taking the real dice and looking on it.
  • It's possible to add some reason to be better/quicker. What about ghosts of my\developer's previous run? Only the best will have the crown.

Overal:
Polished level-based entry about challenging controls.
